This is an unbelievably vibrant ruby red purse from the 20's that's in unbelievably great condition. Flappers called these purses "Cherry Pie" purses due to the knitted body is sectioned like slices of pie!
The purse color is rich, and evenly toned (like the picture with the black background- any spotting is just due to shadows) and weighs at least a pound! The beads are large and hand faceted, the lush, long beaded fringe appears strong. It has a long self-fabric beaded handle strap, and closes with an original brass snap to the original black satin liner. WOW!
Condition:
Amazingly, I find no obvious evidence of lost beads. So if there are any, it wouldn't be more than a strand or two- tops. The sides of the opening is perfect, with looseness or no problems. There's a 1 1/4" period mend under on one snap on the lining, which seems thick, evenly toned and strong (and has no staining). That's it. Definitely well maintained and cared after all these years. In my experience, a beaded purse found in this condition that can be used is unheard of.
