Outstanding seamstress Claudette Donat will make the perfect Civil War ladies beautiful set of 100 percent cotton undersleeves to wear with your fancy day dress (to be worn under the full Pagoda sleeves or bishop sleeves). This listing is for ONE set of undersleeves. Another Victorian technique in needlework is beautiful embroidery cutwork. This sewing technique was added on various garments worn by yesterdays' ladies. In a decade of lavish brocades, velvets, silks and sumptuous fabrics our ladies often wore neckline dickie inset scarfs, blouse front decor with pretty cotton and silk unsleeves with cuffs at the wrist. Cuffed undersleeves fit with elastic at the upper arm to slip secretly under a wider bodice sleeve as a blouse look-alike. These embroidery adorned sleeves are 100 percent cotton, washable in made of cream tone muslin fabric...not bright white but a mellow tone..to be worn slipped under the wider dolman design bodice sleeves. It means a wardrobe of undersleeves are exchanged with other colors- as black ones can be worn with a mourning dress bodice, grey or white sleeves for half mourning or after mourning. That way the sleeves are removable if soiled. These pretty cuff area is approx. 1.5" wide and close at the wrist with two brilliant pearl round buttons. The cutwork motif is made with satin embroidery in colors light blue, pink, and gold plume around the butterfly, a symbol of good luck and life loved by woman of all eras. The butterfly wing details are cut out in the decorative design. There are severaL other sleeve styles available. If you desire a different color, as black in silk with embroidery, or the mellow cream white on white, these can be ordered. These undersleeves sleeves are made with serged modern finish seams inside for stability, and they are made for a stretch fit to the upper arm with elastic. Two brilliant "FAUX" pearl buttons closeures. Other color and fabrics available. Please include wrist measure and color desired with your order. The color is cream cotton and the size will fit most.
