1804 Ballgown of taffeta READY TO WEAR
This is a 1804 Ballgown based on a European fashion periodical illustration. The original fabric was silk with black velvet trim and black fringe. This dress is made of a stiff butter yellow taffetta with black flocked floral print and a soft butter yellow acetate lining for the shirred bodice and panels in the skirt.The fitted bodice is completely lined with the same butter yellow acetate lining. Trimmed with black velvet ribbon and fringe. The shoulders have buttoned epaulets with matching buttons down the front and two decorative buttons in the back. The bodice is draped with shawl trimmed in black fringe. The lovely skirt has four shirred panels of soft butter acetate with black velvet ribbon down the length of each panel. The skirt has a hook and eye closure and attaches to the bodice with 6 skirt hook and eyes. The bottom of the skirt is trimmed with 3 inch black fringe. Hooped petticoat not included.
