1912 Edwardian Titanic or DOWNTON ABBEY style dinner gown Costume with glass beads by Alethea Sayers

Reproduction Titanic Era 1910-12 Ballgown or Dinner Dress, which can be used for the Regency Era (Early 1800s) as well. Both eras shared the (slightly raised) Empire styled Waistline. If you like the Downton Abbey look, this dress would be perfect! It is made of a gorgeous heavily embroidered Brocade, blue Satin and metallic gold Organza.

DESCRIPTION: The main overlay of this Edwardian style dress is made of a very heavily embroidered brocade in shades of silver and gold with a blue background. This fabric retails for $100.00 per yard. The underskirt is made of a lovely blue Satin fabric and is lined in a blue taffeta. Where the overlay opens on one side, is a single sash of crinkled metallic gold Organza that also forms the sash below the breast. The top is of blue satin with overlays in the gold organza and the embroidered brocade. The shoulder sashes at the rear loop underneath the waist sash and hang down at the rear of the dress. The sleeves are of blue Satin, covered in the Organza and adorned with small blue glass beads. The dress is trimmed in a metallic gold braid in which brilliant blue glass beads have been handsewn on (see close up). The beads are sewn on with a gold metallic thread.

This is a one of kind dress that would dazzle admirers at any event and one to cherish for years to come!

SIZE: Bust measurements 36 inches, Waist 29-30, Length from shoulder to just beneath breast 12 inches, from below breast to bottom hem 45 1/2 inches. My model is 5' 11," but only a 32 bust, which means it would be shorter on wearer with 36 inch bust.
NOTE: This dress is brand new and never been worn.
Alethea never charges a handling fee and shipping cost for this item is $17.00 within the US, and very reasonable rates for overseas buyers. Overseas buyers should e-mail me for shipping cost.

Condition:

A short note on the construction of Alethea's dresses... She always tries to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period she is reproducing. All of her seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. She never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. She also adjusts her patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, she flat lines each piece with a zig-zag stitch.
