Alethea Sayers Sass Victorian Costumes
Have an Victorian Wedding Gown costume Bustle dress or Victorian ensemble especially custom made for you by outstanding seamstress Alethea Sayers!Made of a sumptous candlelight silk taffeta and embroidered ivory lace, this bustled wedding dress was inspired by gown worn in the theater version of "Phantom of the Opera." (see photos).

The bodice is adorned with beaded appliques on the front, trimmed with ivory scroll trim and has full rows of embroidered lace at the 3/4 length sleeves. It is fully boned and lined. The silk buttons are for a softer look but bodice closes with hook and eye.
The trained bustled skirt has 5 rows of 7 inch wide embroidered netted lace that run up the side and front panels in a diagonal line. Each row has gathered ivory satin ribbon at the top and the skirt is lined. The back of the skirt trains down and has a row of lace sewn to the inside of the back hem to peak out underneath. A large lined bow, of the silk taffeta is attached to the back of the bodice and can be easily removed. To achieve the proper silhoutte, the mannequin is wearing a proper grand bustle of ruffled ivory taffeta, which has 7 bands of steel boning to support the weight of the train and create a true 1880s wedding gown look. Please note that the Wedding veil and Wedding jewelry are NOT included in the price and estimates are based on sizes raning from 4 to 12. Any sizes larger would require additional charge for the added material. GRAND BUSTLE PRICE(taffeta): $150.00 (plus shipping) Please e-mail me for shipping estimates to US and International.
Condition:
A short note on the construction of Alethea's dresses... She always tries to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period she is reproducing. All of her seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. She never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. She also adjusts her patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, she flat lines each piece with a zig-zag stitch.
Price is: $745.00
