This is a reproduction of an 1880s Victorian bustle dress. This listing includes bodice, underskirt and overskirt. Made of a soft pale blue silk and faux silk with heavy embroidery, this 1880s Day dress presents a lovely Victorian silhouette.
Bodice: Is made of a heavily embroidered copper brown faux silk with a floral pattern of blues, golds and ivory. The Victorian style bodice has been flat lined with cotton muslin, and bag lined with brown cotton. There are 7 strips of boning sewn into each seam. The collar is a stand-up collar with an overlay of blue and brown pleated trim. This same box pleated trim is at each cuff. Bodice closes with hook and eye but has 7 self-covered blue silk buttons for decoration.
Underskirt: This is a traditional 4 gored Victorian styled skirt, made of a heavenly pale blue silk Dupioni and is completely flat lined in ivory cotton. It closes at the side and is shown over bustle. (Bustle not included).
Overskirt: Is made of the faux embroidered silk, and is completely lined in brown cotton. This style is called a "Waterfall" overskirt, due to the way the side panels sweep back, leaving the appearance of a separate piece in the front that comes to a point. The rear has channels sewn on the inside with ties to pull up the poofs or make them less dramatic. As you can see in the photos, the underskirt and bodice can be worn without the overskirt for a different Victorian look. This dress is brand new and ready to be shipped!
Condition:
 A short note on the construction of my dresses... I always try to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period I am reproducing. All of my seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. I never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. I also adjust my patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, I flat line each piece with a zig-zag stitch.
