WHO is the Country Western SUPERSTAR wearing Alethea Sayers Bustle Dress Costume by Alethea Sayers
Elegant 1881 Victorian gown reproduction, custom made, just for your measurements. The original bustle dress seen, worn by Country Music artist, Patty Loveless (see photos of Patty wearing the dress) is now sold and is no longer offered for sale. This mourning style dress costume creation for you is brand new, and made especially in your measurements. For different fabrics than the taffeta that is offered here, such as colored silk, or different additions, finish price may vary, so please ask. Alethea would be happy to give you a quote.
Ensemble consists of three pieces, bodice, skirt and the hat (bustle not included).
BODICE: The BODICE is made entirely of black taffeta with box pleating lining down the front. Double rows of box pleating on the sleeves. Pleated ivory lace is sewn into the neck and into the sleeves at the cuff. Bodice has been flat lined with black cotton fabric for easier alteration, with boning in each seam. The buttons are for decoration and bodice closes with hook and eye down the front.
SKIRT: SKIRT is also of self matching black taffeta, with a smocked black taffeta panel in front. A row of box pleated taffeta trims the hem bottom, and skirt gores have been flat lined with black cotton. There is black netting sewn on the inside of the back, over the bustle area, which allows the bustle poufs to hold the shape better.
HAT: No hat or bonnet is included with this made to ordergown.

Condition:
 A short note on the construction of my dresses... I always try to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period I am reproducing. All of my seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. I never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. I also adjust my patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, I flat line each piece with a zig-zag stitch.
