This elegant Victorian gown features a full train with 5 luscious rows of tiny pleats in alternating silk and taffeta. This style of gown was popular in the mid 1870s, and called the "Natural Form" since it is more form fitting to the body and is worn without a bustle.

BODICE: The Victorian style bodice is made of black taffeta with a lower cut neckline for evening wear. The bodice has been flat lined and boned with open seams for easier alterations. The bodice side panels, piping, neck ruffle and sleeve ruffles are made of a beautiful silk taffeta of golds and black striping. The rear tail is split open and trimmed with a long black beaded fringe trim. A vintage black lace has been sewn into the neckline and the end of the sleeves. Bodice closes with hook and eye. Note: The white collar is not included but shows that the dress can easily be used for day events as well with an insert.

UNDERSKIRT: The gored Victorian style skirt has been flat lined, and is made of the same black taffeta as the bodice. There are channels in the rear of and inside the skirt with drawstrings to pull the train in, or, let it fall out full. The black and gold silk taffeta has been pleated and gathered across the front, with a beaded applique sewn where it gathers.

PLEATING: The five rows of fine pleating in the back consists of three different fabrics, one is the solid black taffeta, one is a gold on gold silk taffeta that has the same pattern as the gold and black stripe but without the black stripe. For an interesting look, try the bodice with a modern day black skirt or skinny jeans! Perfect for a Christmas Dickens Festival.

Condition:

A short note on the construction of my dresses... I always try to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period I am reproducing. All of my seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. I never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. I also adjust my patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, I flat line each piece with a zig-zag stitch. Discounted shipping within the US of $10.00. Outside the US, please e-mail me for a very reasonable shipping cost. Delivery time approx. 3-5 days within US and 5-7 days outside the US.
