This lovely Bustle Dress Costume ensemble consists of four pieces! Made of a rich burgundy cotton velvet, it has a red contrasting plaid taffeta and is trimmed in plush faux mink fur, you'll look snug and warm for cool weather.
BODICE: The bodice has been flat-lined, and boned in all 7 seams, then baglined for stability. The lapels are made of the contrasting plaid skirt fabric. A short stand-up collar is trimmed with fur as is the bottom of the bodice and sleeve cuffs. Note: the lace dickie is NOT included. Bodice closes with hook and eye, but has gold metal buttons for decorative purposes.
UNDERSKIRT: The bustle dress underskirt is a traditional gored skirt made of a faux silk taffeta plaid fabric. It has been flat-lined with fullness in the back to fit over a bustle.
OVERSKIRT: Is made of the burgundy cotton velvet, with ties in the back to create and adjust the fullness of the bustle. It is a separate skirt so the outfit can be worn without it if desired.
HAT: The hat is made of a straw framed bonnet covered with the burgundy velvet fabric, then edge trimmed in fur, and has a wired bow of the plaid taffeta fabric. It is meant to perch on the back of the head, and has burgundy grosgrain ties. Please note that lace dickie, and fur muff are NOT included in auction. As the hat will have to be shipped in a separate box, this is reflected in the shipping cost.
Condition:
 A short note on the construction of my dresses... I always try to maintain an accurate representation of whatever period I am reproducing. All of my seams are pinked to prevent unraveling. I never use Velcro, fabric glue or zippers on the garments and proper interfacing is always used in the waistbands and collars to prevent rolling. I also adjust my patterns slightly to allow for more upper arm comfort than original patterns of this period provide. If a fabric easily unravels, I flat line each piece with a zig-zag stitch.
