"NF gown of rich chocolate taffeta and dark blue puckered taffeta. The underskirt is a fantail skirt with rolls of knife pleats, lace and ribbons. The overskirt is a apron bustled trimmed with navy ribbon knife pleats, light brown lace trim and navy fringe. The bodice is a TV 423 altered pattern, small knife pleats and chocolate beaded frogs on the entire front..." JB

USA Entry 60.) Dress: 1870s Day Dress
Category: Best Victorian Day Gown
Category: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress in the World
Seamstress/ Model: MG
Photographer: Minna Gode and Kim Bladel

"This 1870s day dress was made for walking and talking with visitors at Sainte Genevieve Missouri's Rural Heritage Day. I designed the ribbon- and button-bedecked bodice to reflect military influences so popular in ladies' wear both then and now and chose autumn colors for the October event. It is made of silk, silk, and more silk: Silk dupioni, lined with silk twill, with ninety yards of silk satin ribbon. Working with the silk ribbon was a sensory delight! Patterns by Truly Victorian, TV216 and TV405, with modifications...." MG

"Late 1877-1880 bustle - NF gown is a striking steampunk gown of white taffeta with flocked black stripes. The underskirt is a black moire' fantail skirt with rolls of knife pleats with a bustle apron overskirt trimmed with white knife pleats and black venice lace trim. The bodice is a TV 420 pattern with a detachable black and lace velvet collar. My first "steampunk" attempt with matching hat..." JB

Category: Best Victorian Day Gown
Best Alternate Steampunk Neo Victorian or Gothic Bustle Dress
Dressmaker: DI

"This gown from the late 1870's was designed for a production of JECKYL and HYDE. It includes velvet and silk insets and black velvet trim. The black jetting was originally designed and then the beadwork was completed in India. Hours of handwork and pleating complete the garment. It includes a small velvet hat adorned with plumes. This would be worn to an autumn or winter event with an added cape and parasol..." DI

Gothic Victorian Costume

USA Entry 56.) Dress: 1874 "Lost Souls" Gothic Gown
Category: Best Victorian Day Gown
Best Alternate Steampunk Neo Victorian or Gothic Bustle Dress
Seamstress: Madame Kat

"This dress is called Lost Souls because it sucks up all the light and is so hard to photograph! LOL! Anyway, the Lost Souls dress is based off of a Harper's Bazar fashion plate from 1874 and is made from plain and embroidered taffeta, satin bias tape, double chiffon and satin pleated ruffles, and MILES of hand done pleats. A true labor of love for this Victorian Goth!! Patterns are modified Truly Victorian patterns..." Madame Kat

Gothic Victorian Costume

USA Entry 53.) Dress: 1880s Black and Red Paisley Gown
Category: Best Victorian Day Gown
Most Beautiful Bustle Dress in the World
Seamstress: Sally Clark at: sallycdesigns.com or as Ebay's victoriandressmaker
Model: AC

"This is an 1880's style ensemble that is suitable for day, afternoon tea, dinner, theater, or Gothic/ Steampunk events. It is made in a rich, black satin and paisley print, trimmed with cording and black lace. The fully lined bodice has a high neckline trimmed in black lace with center applique, and finished with black faceted glass beads. The pleated sleeves are 3/4 length and have hand finished paisley appliques down each side. The back of the skirt has an attached paisley overskirt that is split, as well as gathers of black satin and hand finished paisley appliques down each side. I have enjoyed wearing this lovely gown to local events such as tea socials at historical Victorian Queen Anne homes. It is currently displayed on a dress form in my Victorian bedroom full off antiques, beaded lamps, boots, hats, gloves, and lots of lace..." AC
