USA Entry 14.) Dress: 1885 Black and White Striped Silk Linen Visiting DressCategory: Best Victorian Day Bustle GownMy girlfriends and I started out with 30 yards of this black and white striped silk linen and a few rules for this dress. The three of us would have 10 yards each of the silk linen to make a dress. We agreed that we could use coordinating and contrasting fabric as long as it was black or white and we could have one accessory color. The most important rule we agreed on was that we would not share our dress designs or ideas with each other until the actual event at which we'd wear them. The morning of the event we each walked out into the hallway of the hotel and saw each other for the first time in our dresses. We were like children in a candy store, ooo-ing and ahhh-ing and giggling over each others dress. This is mine.

The fabric is a fuchsia and black satin brocade, the over skirt in a fuchsia satin. The dress is trimmed in dainty flowered lace from the neckline to the hem of the skirt. I love wearing this dress to Victorian tea parties with my friends...Happy Eva After

Dress: 1886 Late Era Bustle EraCategory: Best Victorian Day Bustle GownSeamstress: Rose WilsonI found this fashion plate of this beautiful day dress in La Mode Illustree fashion plates in full color, and I just had to have it. It was featured in La Mode on March 11, 1886. Mine is done in a beautiful gold, Chinese silk brocade with the underskirt in a burnt orange lace. The overskirt and bustle are in a gold dupioni silk. The neckline and cuffs are done in the lace, and the bows that cascade down the front of the dress are in the dupioni silk. I love to wear this dress to the SASS convention and to tea parties... Dress: 1871 Striped Early Bustle GownCategory: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDSeamstress: Rose WilsonThis 1871 day dress is a black and white silk trimmed out with ruffles and bows so true to the early bustle era. It was a fun dress to make as 3 of my other friends made dresses from the same fabric, but it was a secret what we would do until the day we would wear them. We had a great time parading around together in our interpretations of a beautiful striped gown. Catawba Kate
