USA Entry 34.) Dress: 1880 Masquerade Luna Moth Ball gownCategory: USA Best Victorian Ball GownSeamstress: AB1880 Masquerade Ball Gown -The Luna Moth- This gown is made entirely of ivory dupioni silk. The bodice is constructed of hand-pieced 1" inch silk bias strips, laid on the diagonal to conform to the body, trimmed in alencon lace, silk piping and Swarovski crystals. The skirt is constructed from long lengths of dupioni silk and wide alencon, crystal-studded lace, wound around the front of the skirt to create a cocoon effect with the lengths gathered in poufs down the back to a long flowing train. The "wings" are created from four chiffon panels, outlined in red and hand-painted with the signature luna moth eyes. The wings are attached at the shoulder and are removeable. The mask was made from a handmade plaster form, painted and covered in wired and stiffened georgette and trimmed in sequins, gold lace, and peacock, pheasant and ostrich feathers. AB
International Entry 33.) Dress: 1887 Taffeta Visiting GownCategory: International Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDCategory: International Best Victorian Day Bustle GownSeamstress: Manon AntoinetteThis is a late Bustle ensemble about 1887, a burgundy embroidered taffeta, with contrasting off-white taffeta with the exact same embroidery pattern. Made the buckram hat to match. Buttons are vintage chestnut brown leather buttons. It's supposed to be a day dress or visiting dress. These are several shots, including one I specifically had taken to prove someone wrong who claimed it was not possible to sit with a bustle petticoat! Manon Antoinette
International Entry 32.) Dress: 1874 Striped Reception GownCategory: International Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDCategory: International Best Victorian Day Bustle GownSeamstress: Ms ClancyIt is made from black and white striped silk with complementing black and white taffeta. A chevron effect was created as detail in the back of the bodice with tiny satin pleats in the seams. The trained skirt features layers of pleats and ruffles. The overskirt has ribbon detailing that flows through into the matching bodice. A faux white inset blouse and ruffle neckline are offset by tiny black buttons. The sleeves again replicate the layered effect of the trailing skirt. Ms Clancy
USA Entry 31.) Dress: 1875 Opera GownCategory: USA Best Victorian Ball GownThis is 1875 gold dupioni silk with royal blue embroidered organza ball/reception/opera gown. I was originally making this gown for myself to wear to the 2007 SASS Convention Ball, but I was unable to go. So I completed it to be sold and it now lives in Ireland. The pleated section on the upper bodice can be removed for a bit more daring look, or leave it in place for those who tend to be demure. Lady Leigh
