USA Entry 5.) Dress: 1874 Ivory silk embroidered w/ivory roses with coral dupioni silkCategory: Best Victorian Ball GownIvory and Coral were two of the Victorian ladies favorite jewelry pieces, which was the inspiration for this gown. The ivory silk is embroidered with ivory roses and the contrasting coral silk seemed to be the perfect fabric for the trim. The dress is trimmed with handmade silk roses made from the coral silk along with ivory silk pleats and Venetian lace w/roses. This dress has danced at SASS events and cruised the Inner Passageway of Alaska on the Empress of the North.
USA Entry 4.) Dress: 1876 Victorian Der Bazar Ball GownCategory: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDCategory: Best Victorian Ball Gown In the WORLDThis is a ballgown inspired from 1876 Der Bazar. Every detail of the entire ensemble is from that year: from the hair style, to the jewelry, to the accessories, to the petticoat. The petticoat is an 1876 reproduction pattern from LaMode Illustree,' a sister publication. It is made of ivory taffeta and row after row of ivory taffeta ruffles covered with ivory crystal pleated lace edged with ivory satin ribbon. It's quite heavy! The dress is ivory silk satin with cobalt blue moire' pleats and red velvet ribbon. I even used an antique pleating tool to make the pleats. The gloves are antique kid leather with Czech blue glass buttons, and the antique red enameled watch has its original matching watch pin. There is even a matching fan chatelaine and fan to complete the look. By Lady La Salle
USA Entry 3.) Dress: Godey's 1874 Traveling Bustle DressCategory: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDThis is a close reproduction to a fashion plate from Godey's 1874. It is made out of red pin tucked silk taffeta, red silk velvet, and red jacquard silk taffeta. All 3 pieces are flat lined, the skirt with a red cotton and the other two pieces with the jacquard. I modified the overskirt, but otherwise the dress is identical to the original right down to the stand up pleats at the bottom of the skirt. All of the bias tape was handmade using the red jacquard silk taffeta. All of the buttons are either covered by hand with the jacquard or the velvet. I made the hat to match, and was lucky enough to find a matching raccoon muff. And yes, the fabric almost glows! By Lady La Salle
USA Entry 2.) Dress: The Midnight Bustle ensemble by KambrielCategory: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLDCategory: Best Gothic Victorian GownThe Midnight Bustle ensemble made by Kambriel is in gleaming black brocade, shadowed crinoline and filigree lace, accented at the neck with a matching beaded choker... I've found this decadent and timeless Victorian inspired design perfect to wear for anything from a romantically beautiful wedding or a sinisterly elegant vampire ball! USA Entry 1.) B.C. 1877 Madame's Bustle GownCategory: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLD1877 Madame's Bustle Gown; black silk satin, pink duchess satin, black Chantilly lace edged with satin, pink satin caterpillar trim, black beaded/sequined Venice lace appliques', and black beaded flower appliques'. I made this using images from LaMode Illustree' from the same year. One of the cool things about the dress is the oval trim side pieces. Not only are they unique and elegant, but functional----the top two on both side are not completely sewn shut and act as pockets! I also made a custom dust ruffle to match. Lady LaSalle
