USA Entry 54.) Dress: Embroidered Ball GownCategory: USA Best Victorian Ball GownSeamstress: Linda E. Charron at: FrocksofAges.comI created this Ball Gown for my friend Jodie Myers when she found a picture of an original gown she just loved. Though not an exact copy, it was inspired by the original gown. I wanted Jodie's gown to have the little birds on the front of the skirt as the original gown had. When I couldn't find any suitable birds, I decided that making them myself. The floral lace appliques all came from a single piece of lace which I cut apart and trimmed with the dress taffeta, pearls and aquamarines to look like dew drops. There are also beaded butterflies visiting the flowers. Linda Charron
USA Entry 53.) Dress: Victorian Blue Velvet Bustle Gown.Category: USA Most Beautiful Day DressThis dress was made entirely from recycled materials. It started out as a 1970's prom dress. I cut it up, added fabric to the bodice, then made the skirt from old drapes and the overskirt from an old velvet jacket. The bustle was a scrap piece of taffeta flocked with velvet flowers. All the trims were from my grandma's closet, and an old dress of my Mom's. I even hand painted the old fabric flowers to give them sparkle. The cape was an old jacket re-cut and and re-sewn. A very fun project... CS
International Entry 52.) Dress: Victorian Dubai Ball GownCategory: International Best Victorian Ball GownCategory: International Best Victorian Gown in the WorldThis dress is called the Dubai Dress as all the silk fabric used in the dress came from Dubai. The dress is made from garnet silk dupioni and antique gold faux silk. The train and sleeves are detailed with ruching to add texture and detail to the fabric. The detailed scallops are all hand made on an embroidery machine with overlaying peacock lace. The overskirt is simple with contrast detail. It has embroidered stockings of gold scrolls with hand dyed slippers with matching bows and gold filigree buckles. Clancy
