USA Entry 61.) Dress: 1870's Purple Ball Gown
Category: Best Victorian Ball Gown
Category: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress in the World
Seamstress: MH
This is a late 1870's ball gown that started with 2 pieces of fabric. About 3.5 yards total of a beautiful, beaded panel and an amazing, silk velvet in a midnight purple. All the other fabrics and accessories had to be dyed to match this rich hue. Though this gown is several years old, it is still one of my favorites, and I still feel like the belle of the ball whenever I wear it... MH

Seamstress: Madame Kat
Today I am submitting a gown designed by Lady LaSalle and made by me, called 'The Lady Dragon.' I was inspired to make a gown for the Dracula's Ball (a gothic event in Philadelphia), and this is the result. This natural form era bustle gown is made of black taffeta, black dragon and phoenix brocade satin, and black lace. Underskirt has two rows of pleats topped by scalloped lace and short lace; the overskirt has a pointed front panel of brocade satin bordered by scalloped lace with side panels of black taffeta edged in scalloped lace and short lace; the back of the overskirt is "coffin" draped in the brocade; the evening bodice is made of black taffeta and the brocade with brocade pleats and scalloped lace around the neck and sleeves with the back tail in a simple split to showcase the coffin draping. So far I have worn this gown to the Dracula's Ball, a funeral, a walk in the park, and a wedding. It is quite versatile for my gothic lifestyle. Madame Kat

USA Entry 22.) Dress: 1878 Black Velveteen and Coral Silk Dinner Dress
Category: Most Beautiful Bustle Dress In the WORLD
Madams were some of the wealthiest women in the Victorian era. They may not have been the most "proper" ladies but they were some of the best dressed ladies in town, because they had the money to dress that way. This dress is made of black velveteen, coral silk and azure satin. The fabric that makes the peacock tail was the inspiration for this dress. Whenever I wear this dinner dress I become Madam Peacock.
