Gorgeous Victorian 1850's ROSES Civil War BALL GOWN
Extremely beautiful, gold and rose patterned, 1850's silk taffeta evening, ball gown or wedding dress. It is a one piece beauty, but was designed to look like two. Curvy bodice is short waisted, fully boned boned and extremely fitted, lined in soft mercerized cotton (feels like silk) in the pretty bodice and glazed linen is in the very full skirt. This beautious gown has a low, "scround" neckline with slightly off the shoulder flap sleeves (as sexy as evening gowns became for those days!) with a realistic faux "V" at the neck, the folded gathers looped in the decollete' center to create a full busted effect. Gorgeous rose scalloped trim and silk fringe. On the back, it closes by the original steel hooks with embroidered eyes. Pleated cartridge gathers at the straight waist make the skirt fullness stand out from the waist. Glazed lining inside.

Condition:

Surprisingly size 12! (Wearable, although I don't recommend it for gowns this old. The gown is truly a splendid gem with some fraying and some wear spots around some edges. Minor mends at the bodice. Some spots on inside. Otherwise, great condition.
