1904 Ethereal PINK flowered ribbon blonde Lace BALL GOWN- VERY FANCY
This is an especially stunning, Edwardian 1904 Ball gown airy confection, made for summer. The delicate pastel pink color is a delicious tone, the fabric made of a paper-fine silk taffeta, overlaid with a gossamer hair's thickness of blonde, stiff silk Point de Esprit lace, made to optically appear to float in air over the pink taffeta liner. There are pretty, silk satin, pale rose pink ribbon-work "rosette" circles with embroidery centers decorating the gown's flounced yoke. The style is classically elegant. Blousen front, low, plunging "U" neckline. Graceful, double-poufed "Juliet" sleeves, dropping to a long, uneven lovely cuff edging and gathered self-fabric trim. Back hook and eye closures.
The skirt is so pretty...There are multiple layers of hip-hugging ruching, "A" line skirt, bottom gathered flounce trimmed with ruching and more rosettes. On the waistband, there's a silk ribbon closure. The gown is very flowing and is slightly longer in the back with a dancing "sweep." (As not to be tripped on. LOL) The liner has a fine-pleated dust ruffle edging. The single lining is unboned, with no petersham. The shields say "US Shields." There's a number at the bottom which is "6-4." Which I believe might mean "06-04?" or a size? Breathtakingly divine gown. Please view all photos and read the additional condition observations under the photo.
