item number #SOLD1048 FABULOUS C. 1876-1881 Victorian Young Lady's Embossed wool Polonaise Gown with ruching and Bows Sorry- there are no longer any other photos of this gown available. WOW! This is a very lovely and rich young lady's embossed wool and silk trim dress with gold buttons and lace trim! Opulent chocolate silk-satin bows are used. The fitted bodice is decorated with 20 original fancy gold buttons (top button is missing). Polanaise bodice has a long tail, which covers the back of the skirt. Bodice innards have 7 bones and a self-belt on the inside which closes with 2 hooks and eyes. The front of the bodice comes to two side points. The lovely skirt is thick and heavily ruched and deeply pleated with rear bows as an accent. Amazing to find such a great piece in such great condition! Condition: Condition on this dress is near mint, I think it must only have been worn a few times. All fabrics and innards are very sturdy. The under arms are in good condition. You can see some light wear from the outside, if you lift up the arms and look- mainly where the velvet pile has been rubbed from arm movement. The skirt is also in excellent condition, the hemline's clean, waistband closes with a hook and eye and is amazingly sturdy considering the considerable weight of the skirt.
