Edwardian 1908 Pink RUCHED Girdle Afternoon gown
Now here's a gorgeous afternoon gown to gush about! I had purchased it on Ebay years ago for myself for a tea since the condition was so good and the flattering color so wonderful, but blast-! It ended as being a bit too small in the magnificent, ruched waist for me. LOL So, here you go! LOL This exceedingly pretty gown is a very good size though, and can even accommodate a larger bustline, which is almost never found in antique gowns.
This was a carnation pink silk crepe weave summer afternoon gown, made to hold up to wear, and to be fully comfortable wearing. The neckline is a low cut modesty square of tucked cream net, with silk floss embroidered full blown roses with pale green leaves in circular garlands. The comfortably gathered, blousen bodice (the inside underneath has bust enhancing ruffles) has a rounded yoke and 9 self-fabric silk decorative buttons for show on the back and front. 3/4 sleeves are of self silk with the cream net overlay with more silk floss roses circular garlands and scalloped garlands. The back is similar in style to the front, with hook and eye closures. The decorative natural waist is just magnificent! The corded ruching has a small, ruffled flounce under the bust, and is ruched in wide, corded rows to emulate a pleated girdle or corset! It really makes quite the sexy statement! (It is not an actual corset or girdle as there is no boning in this garment.) The round skirt has some fullness, and is full length if you're 5'4" (like me) and under and is tea length if your' re tall like my mannequin (she's 5'11.) (Didn't I tell you this exceptional gown had all the delicious goodies? LOL) Bodice is lined, skirt is not so you will need a slip. Make sure to look at the condition observations as well- you don't want to miss this one!

Condition:
Lovely, lovely! Presentable, strong and surprisingly in EXCELLENT condition, with little in the way of flaws to mention. (I'll explain below.) The silk is wonderfully strong and could be worn, but there is an allover soft fading that does not distract at all- I had to pull apart deep folds so it could be seen in photos and than I had to add contrast. I actually think it is charming. The netting is great- strong, perhaps there is a broken honeycomb, but it's in terrific condition, with a faint yellowing at the back closure from a wear and a super faint underarm spot inside. Closeured are there, with no problems. On the hip skirt there is a hand sized area with tiny (pinhead sized) pale and faint tea like splatters(?). There's a few other ares with a small amount of tiny, faint spots, but I believe this gown has not been cleaned and so probably would be an excellent candidate. I saw a super tiny 1/16" period mend and few extremely tiny pinholes on the skirt, but this is pretty nitpicky. The inside cotton is great, with a hardly noticeable 3" vintage mend. Even all the original buttons are there and in great condition. Sizzling style! Stunning.
