1920's ULTRA-RARE original CHANEL Chartreuse Velvet Gloves
This is an find from the 20's. When was the last time you found an original early Chanel anything offered for sale- especially in such a great color- that wasn't just black or white? These VERY RARE gloves are pale pea green soft cotton velvet pull-ons with lighter colored extra fine plonget leather palms that are pointed at the wrists. They have well-made machined and hand sewn construction at the fingers, fine pin tucking on the broad flat of the hands with same fabric leather piped edges. 3/4 length to elbows. They are of course unlined, and have the original silk taffeta tag in plain block black and white, "CHANEL, Paris, Brevele" S.G.D.G. Made in France.

Condition:

These gloves came with an estate of Edwardian, 20's and 30's items and had been folded neatly for many years in a glove box. I have not attempted any steaming so it would be in it's original condition, but I believe the folds will steam or lightly iron out. On both gloves sides, the seams are slightly lightened, with yellowed age foxing. This faint lightening extends to one of the wrists and back of the hand for 4." All I could think of it must be the dye fading with age since it doesn't seem fragile at all. The square area where the tag is age-darkened. The tag has obviously been there for a very long time. There are a few age related spots and a couple of lightly soiled fingertips that almost aren't worth mentioning and a general mellowing of the overall color. They are not narrow and are wearable however, and would be fabulous in a collection. That's it. Definitely cared after all these years. In my 20 years experience, rare Chanel gloves found in this condition that can be used is unheard of.
