Silk Flapper VIBRANT 1920's beaded Chrysanthemum Fireworks dress
I couldn't resist naming this wonderful 20's flapper dress as the Chrysanthemum Fireworks dress- my husband said the vibrance of the patterns reminded him of the firework display on the 4th of July. I have to agree! Color is what makes this whole dress come alive.
This gorgeous and unusual 3/4 length sleeveless blousen sheath dress is in unbelievably great, wearable condition. It is made of dark navy silk Georgette, with large patterns of yellow, red, brown, and two shades of blue blooming Chrysanthemums as they just burst open. What makes this pretty dress so wonderfully unique is the marbleized, multicolored printing on the insides of the flowers and inside the beading (and there's much beading), which is in at least five different vibrant colors, of handmade colored glass, and outlined with each color. The beads are strongly attached and seeming very clean and sparkly, as if it were just made. On the hip is a multi-toned braided belt that has a wonderful square beaded applique on one side and beaded tassels on the other. It has a boat neck, side snaps (for slip over) and the back has the same pattern as the front. A very good size. Wonderful dress.
Condition:
Well, here's very little to tell about the condition, but I'm picky so, here we go...
Although very fine weave silk Georgette, it has very healthy silk and beads, not rotting or weak. Underarms look perfect, like it was never worn. There is no underslip- never came with one. There two thin 1/4" either mends or they are tiny areas that just have no beads. This is on one shoulder and I showed a close-up with no slip so you can see it. Pretty well hidden in the pattern either way. I see no holes, weak seams or lost beads. Truly an "A" list gown. One of the best- ever.
