item number #LISA1011 1920s RARE Shadow lace fan with flying BLACKBIRDS This is a stunning and unusual rare black 20's shadow lace fan that's tall in the center and curved toward the ends. There are five wonderful lace applique blackbirds caught in mid flight. Black saucer micro sequins are scattered throughout, concentrated on the delicate, lace applique blackbirds and the top rim. The fan appears to be made of a black painted wood that has little round indentations as if there were to be sequins put there, but there are none. These fans were purely decorative, used mostly to be provocative they leave little to the imagination. Due to condition item is sold "AS IS" Condition: I consider this good sized fan strong enough for using, but I could also see it in a museum or a fan collection. The tines are all there. I did find a 1/16" netting break near an edge that's very hard to find. There's a 1" tall but thinner than toothpick clear glue area on the netting (I believe this to be original to the time of making, because I see 3? other similar, kind of shiny (but not distracting) originally glued areas on the tines. Used, so-so condition but usable, heavy spotting, fraying, still useful for the creative. Heavily used, stained, worn or split, a pattern, project, or a cutter.
